Autopilot

Why is it
when out I can
turn off my worries
to focus on you
while at home
my tiredness
and self
surface?

Where do they
go when I am out?
Where do they
hide in my
home?

  1. Love this poem. I do it and it happens to me so very often.

    I also don't know why.

  2. They don't hide in your home; they hide in your heart. Outside, the defence system is in place, to keep you safe; inside, where it is already safe, the defence system is relaxed. Then, when little things trigger those memories, they come pouring out through the relaxed defence system, into a space where it's safe to look at them, to feel them and to work through them.
