Yesterday morning I awoke rather bleary-eyed and, while Damae "hopped through the shower" I wandered off into the kitchen, put the toast on and started making coffee. "It's a bit nippy this morning" I thought and then looked out of the kitchen window to see frost on the Syncro's windscreen.
I then looked at the pumpkin plants at the end of the garden. Their wilting leaves were frosted as well. That spelled the end of our pumpkins and the single tiny green pumpkin that had appeared a week ago.
Now here's a bit of a coincidence: yesterday's date was the 16th of September. Last year (2010) we got our first frost on the 16th of September. I wonder if this means we're in for another cold winter?

It was 9° in the tipi this morning with thick fog all around - we were in Ockley on a farmer's field. We pitched the tent over a camp fire circle so that we could cook over a brazier last night. Had a lovely time, marred only by the fact that the only item of cutlery I packed was a teaspoon, miraculously found in the washbag. Does sharing one teaspoon for stew last night, and for porridge this morning, mean that we're standard bearers for the Slow Food movement now?
ReplyDeleteHope so, yay! But find lots of fur for visiting ninkis...
ReplyDeleteCan't you rescue the little green pumpkin and put him into an incubator...? :-(
