Last winter was cold, and a bit short on snow. But at least it stayed cold, crisp and white for a long time. It was predictable. Walking and driving on a layer snow is quite easy when you get used to it.
But this autumn has been quite different. After a wet summer and an unusually dry October, the weather has been all over the place recently. We've had temperatures between +5'c and -5'c with fog, mist and rain. The rain has been freezing on the under-cooled ground as it runs downhill. This has left us with a lawn as hard as concrete paving slabs. It is incredibly slippery out there, no-one seemed to be walking round town with a nonchalent swagger this evening
This evening it has started snowing, wet, big flakes that are managing to stick to the wet and frozen ground. I can't say if the snow will be there tomorrow but it is nice to see it all the same.
